Maplewood driving is highway driving. I-694 and Highway 36 carry a lot of truck traffic and, in winter, a lot of freshly treated pavement, which is the exact combination that produces stone chips across the hood, bumper and mirror caps. For most Maplewood highway commuters, front-end coverage is where the value is. Rock chips are a physics problem: debris comes off the road at the leading surfaces. Full-vehicle film makes sense if you want resale-grade preservation or drive a car with soft, easily marked paint — but we would rather size the job to your driving than upsell coverage that will not see impacts.
Plan on the vehicle being with us for a couple of days. The film itself goes on in a day, but the paint has to be decontaminated and prepped first, and the edges need time to set before the car goes back into weather. Rushing either step is how you get lifting edges six months later.
Yes, and for highway commuters it is usually the right answer. They solve different problems: film is a thick, self-healing physical barrier for impact zones, and coating is a thin chemical barrier that covers everything for gloss, UV and easier washing. Coating can also be applied over film, which protects the film itself and keeps the whole vehicle behaving the same way when you wash it.
